Plot to Pack SCOTUS

Timothy Birdnow

James Carville, the redneck swamp rat who pushes his insane brand of Democratic Bolshevism as Bill Clinton's hatchet man and later a general herpes outbreak on the body politic, is on record as saying that the Democrats will pack the Court when they get power to do so (along with some other dirty tricks to gain unlimited power, like statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C.) and so the New York Times is setting the stage for it by making up faux scandals involving SCOTUS to justify "reform". This reform will greatly benefit the Democratic Party, naturally.

(I wonder if Carville's parent's were brother and sister. Maybe Ilhan Omar has that much in common with the elder Carvilles.)

The NY Times, based ENTIRELY on anonymous sources, has it's panties in a bunch over an alleged memo creating a "shadow docket" which is nothing of the sort - it's just that with SCOTUS deliberations being plagued by multiple leaks to the media to benefit the Democrats and hurt the Trump administration John Roberts took prudent steps to plug them and in some cases is having private debates over sensitive issues so as not to alert whoever it is who has been leaking and letting them continue to break the law.

It's not like SCOTUS hasn't always done it this way, just that Roberts has ramped it up a bit. There has always been private debate among Justices.

The comic book paper The New York Times was particularly angry about emergency orders issued without full debate. They gnaw their tongues over this:

Emergency orders based on abbreviated briefing and almost no deliberation have now become commonplace, notably in cases arising from challenges to presidential actions. Critics call this new way of doing business the "shadow docket.”

This is primarily done when an emergency stay of a lower court ruling is needed and the full SCOTUS debate and docket is impractical. For instance, if a judge should issue an order stating Trump had to stop bombing Iran the President would appeal to SCOTUS and there would likely be a stay on the lower court order without a full debate in SCOTUS because of the pressures of time.

And whose fault is that? The Democrats have been using the courts to block every and any Trump actions whatsoever, and most of them are ridiculous and have been shot down, either by superior courts or by SCOTUS. The Democrats have used the old Cloward-Piven tactic of overloading the system. So how do you "fix" an overloaded system?

Just as Cloward and Piven suggested - you offer a reform that greatly benefits you. As Saul Alinsky said, you must have a constructive alternative.

And that would be...drumroll please...MORE JUSTICES!

Of course more Justices would fix nothing - it would make the Courts less responsive and not more, because it would mean more people to shepherd into line. It would slow things down. But the Democrats could sell this to the public based on the backlog, a backlog they themselves created.

This is how their minds work. Create a liberal "solution" to a problem and when it fails create an even worse "solution" and all the while it benefits them politically.

Obamacare was a prime example. They complained about inefficiency and high prices in medicine so created Obamacare with the intention that it fail so they could get what they REALLY wanted - socialized medicine. Obamacare destroyed most private plans and forced a lot of people onto the exchange (I know; I lost my employer-based care and had to go on Obamacare, which cost me a lot more and limited my services quite a bit). They had created the problem in the first place. Roosevelt raised taxes so high employers started offering healthcare coverage as a way around the tax. Then when this drove the costs up Medicare was introduced which drove the costs up quite a bit more, and Ted Kennedy wrote the bill creating HMO's, a most-hated entity, which drove the cost up. Then their solution was to create Obamacare, which was supposed to act as a stepping stone to true Engsoc style socialized medicine.

It hasn't happened yet but it will. An amazing number of people now believe healthcare under socialized medicine is better than what we have in America and they point to places like Mexico or Cuba or Canada as "proof". When you point out that anyone needing quick treatment comes here to receive it they simply deny that. I've had many arguments about that in recent days on Facebook.

At any rate, this is what they are doing now with SCOTUS; they are delegitimizing it and trying to gum up the works so they can hijack the whole branch of government. They have long understood the power of the judiciary and have employed it as a weapon for generations now. We took SCOTUS away from them only by sheer luck; they want it back, and want to make their control permanent.

If they knew we would have, say, the next three presidents and enough Senators to get those president's nominees through I assure you they would be fighting for the status quo.

As the Red State article points out:
  • And in the NYT's world, this is beyond the pale. The paper further claims that Chief Justice Roberts has allowed this use of shadow docket methodology to run amok, firing off emergency rulings instead of going through the court's hallowed deliberative judicial process.
Again, whose fault is that? The Times is mad that SCOTUS used this method to block Obama and Biden and to side with Trump. But they would have anyway if time had permitted. Oh, and who cares about the making of the sausage anyway? How does the public debate impact the outcome? All it is is a way to try to put pressure on the Justices (Amy Coney Barrett in particular comes to mind).

The author if this Redstate article does a fine job, don't get me wrong, but I fear she does not understand there is a plot afoot to justify packing the Court when the Democrats obtain power and this is what the New York Times is working to set the stage for now. They are now looking for scandals - any scandals they can manufacture - to justify major reforms of the Supreme Court. Remember "vacationgate" where they went after Clarence Thomas and others for taking vacations paid for by friends? They tried to use this to push for "ethics reform" which would place an ethical code created BY CONGRESS on the Court, something wildly unconstitutional as the Court is a coequal branch of government and sets it's own rules. This is another "scandal" they have spun from cotton candy, and there will be more until the Demcrats take power and they have the votes to "reform" the Court. (One wonders what will happen if the Court refuses to let them do this; how will Congress and the President force their will on SCOTUS? Will they send U.S. Marshalls or the FBI to arrest John Roberts?)

I would add it's been tried before. On March 9, 1937 President Roosevelt argued in one of his "fireside chats":

"Can it be said that full justice is achieved when a court is forced by the sheer necessity of its business to decline, without even an explanation, to hear 87% of the cases presented by private litigants?"

He wanted to pack the courts and his Judicial Procedures Reform Bill of that same year was the scheme he wanted whereby he would add up to six new Justices. And he would get to do this when a justice over normal retirement age refused to step down.

The bill ultimately failed because members of Roosevelt's own party believed it unconstitutional and would not support it. That won't happen today, with the radicalization of the Donkeys.

This is a plot, make no mistake, and it has a specific goal that would grant absolute power to the Democratic Party.

The Dog Ate My Tax Return

Timothy Birdnow

Lame-o!

She may as well have said "the dog ate my tax return".

Doesn't she hire accountants to do this the right way? I guess she's hired her brother/husband who probably can't read English or anything else.

The walls are closing in on the comly Madame Omar. I sure hope she doesn't wriggle out of all this; she needs to be kicked out of Congress and hopefully deported back to Somalia where she belongs.

I wonder if her husband's non-existant winery got eaten by the dog too? Oh wait; Muslims hate dogs, don't they!

Iran was a Problem Until Trump

Timothy Birdnow

"Iran's nuclear program is galloping forward. It is enriching at higher levels, 20% even 60% in small cases, it's using more advanced centrifuges. We're now down, based on published reports, to a few months. If this continues, if they continue to enrich at the levels and in the ways that they're doing, it will get down eventually to a few weeks. So that is a concrete problem. We have an interest in putting that nuclear problem back in the box, because an Iran with a nuclear weapon, or with the ability to produce fissile material on very short notice to get one, is an Iran that's going to be an even worse actor."

Former Secretary of State Anthony Blinken 2021

"Iran, the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism, has directly or by hiring criminals, mounted assassination attempts against dissonance and high ranking current and former US officials, including right here on American soil."

Former FBI Director Christopher Wray, 2023

So the Democrats knew there was a big problem and, while refusing to take action themselves, are now attacking President Trump for doing the very thing they knew needed to be done but feared to do.

Or are they claiming Joe Biden fixed the problem with visualization techniques?

U.S. Delays Weapons Shipments to Europe

Timothy Birdnow

If they couldn't be bothered to help us in the war with Iran why should we help them?

The babies in Europe are naturally bawling their widdow eyes out (to quote Tweetie Bir) but they need to strap on a pair and act like, well, as manly as they ever get. You chose to not help us so we choose to delay your weapon

Senate Won't Extend TPS for Haitians (We Hope)

Timothy Birdnow

Feell the Bern!

Sen. Bernie Moreno

It’s called TEMPORARY protected status (TPS) for a reason.

The Senate will not expand TPS. The House’s bill is an insult to the millions of people patiently waiting in line & a tacit approval of Biden’s border invasion where TPS became de facto amnesty. Republicans will not continue to allow wage suppressing illegal migration to destroy working Americans with high prices, healthcare shortages, housing scarcity, and degradation of our social safety nets.

Thune Won't Turn Over Doc on Brennan

Timothy Birdnow

Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune is failing to act on a request by the DOJ for transcripts and other documents to aid them in prosecuting the father of the Russian Collusion Hoax, John Brennan.

The DOJ requested the documents over two months ago and Thune is still refusing to release them.

Releasing them is a formality; Thune just has to introduce the request to the Senate for a vote, with a simple majority needed. Thune is refusing to advance the request to the Senate.

Thune claims he is trying to negotiate with Democrats to avoid a time-consuming fight that would slow other legislation.

What other legislation? Certainly not the SAVE America Act. Thune is just fine with not giving that piece of legislation an airing. He probably means the legislation giving amnesty to illegal aliens his Senate has pending.

Trump supported Thune for this post so it ultimately is on him as much as on Thune. Trump has GOT to learn these aren't businessmen trying to make money - they are strutting peacocks who are there for their own aggrandizement and in fact there is money in it for them to screw over the President. Money and good press.

Thune is one of the worst, every bit as bad as his predecessor and mentor Mitch "the bitch" McConnell.

Iran Should Have Made and Kept a Deal

Timothy Birdnow

Iran has closed the Strait of Homuz again, claiming the U.S. violated the terms of the truce by continuing to interdict Iranian shipping.

Also, Iran complained that Israel was continuing to strike Hezbollah in Lebanon. One of the things they insisted on was that Israel stop going after their proxy army there.

Get that, Pope Leo the Chicken-Hearted? Iran is admitting (well, they never tried to deny it) that Hezbollah is THEIR army by making this part of the deal. And how many Israelis has Hezbollah murdered? How many Americans, for that matter? Yet you and your Vatican stooges insist this isn't a just war because Iran didn't attack anybody!

At any rate this was entirely to be expected; it's how the Iranians negotiate. And they figure time is on their side, if they can hold out long enough idiots in our government will start pushing Trump to quit early. And they may be right.

But time isn't on their side either; they are losing billions of dollars and eventually their economy will collapse completely. I heard Victor Davis Hansen - a man who really knows his stuff about the Middle East - believes they can only hold out about ten day]s with the blockade in place. While there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth from Congress, especially the RINO wing and the dufus Libertarian types like Thomas Massie or Rand Paul, It will take the opposition a long time to get the votes to compel Trump to stop. Mike Johnson isn't going to betray the President on this. And while John Thune would gleefully do so he could well face a filibuster from his own party over it. That would be poetic; the man who refused to end the filibuster or even force a talking filibuster getting burned by his own party with it.

I would say Trump is in the catbird seat. He can now piddle around, make a string of excuses, and watch Iran slip into the seventh century again (maybe that Muhdi fellow will crawl back out of the well he fell down way back when.) Meanwhile the nations that relied so heavily on Iranian oil have made other arrangements and if they have any wisdom at all they will stick to those after the war ends. Check and mate.

I am mindful of the line in Return of the Jedi where Jabba the Hut is about to throw Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Lando Kalrissian, and Chewbacca into the Snarlack pit, to be eaten. Luke says as he is about to be pushed into the pit "you should have made a deal Jabba" and then proceeds to wipe out Jabba's whole gang.

Iran should have made a deal.

Attack of the Dildoes

Timothy Birdnow

I mean that literally; a bunch of anit-ICE protesters in Minnesota hung a collection of the marital aids from a chain link fence and tossed them at government cars. The article fails to mention if they were new or had been previously used.

Leftists have a most unhealthy relationship with sex. They are so obsessed with it they will buy artificial penises just to chuck at passing cars. It's insane.

I wonder if that woman Bishop who promoted the use of dildoes was the official chaplain? (Can't remember her name nor find my own article about it a while back.)

They are undoubtedly the people who purchase these sacrilegious items, no doubt.

BTW According to the Oxford English Dictionary, earliest evidence for dildo is from 1590, in the writing of Robert Greene, writer and playwright.

I suspect the bulk of these came from Kamala Harris' private stash...

Men were Men and Women were Glad of it

Timothy Birdnow

We've long said young white women are the core of our national problem and this is why:

Decades of feminism and grievance promotion among them has turned them all into God-hating weirdos and as a result they are now more wedded to the Leftist cause than ever. When you stop believing in God you will believe in anything, as the saying goes.

42% of Gen. Z men say religion is "very important" to them - the highest number ever. But women?

The number of women who say it is "very important" to them is down to just 29% and falling.

Women have sold their souls to the spirit of the age and they will suffer greatly because of it in times to come.

Feminism is all about anger and so is atheism and anger is not pleasant, not for those around you and not for the person herself. Feminists are angry because they are unhappy and they are unhappy because they are violating Natural Law, and when you do that your conscience tells you plainly. Being a liberal feminist is a fast track to misery, despair, and anger.

God gives us the grace we need to overcome our circumstances and so Christians are generally conservative and much happier than liberals.

So why are boys turning to the light side? They have been discriminated against, belittled, oppressed by the society of feminazis, the Valkyrie who lord it over our schools and increasingly over all other institutions as the passive aggressive feminist types slowly take over so many institutions. Boys no longer go to college in any numbers comparable to girls. They get crumbier jobs. They are told to sit down and shut up. They are told they are lousy with privilege, privileges they can't seem to find in their own lives.

In times past they ignored all that because it got them women and women still wanted men. They no longer seem to desire men, and the ones who do want it all on their own terms. Who wants a relationship like that? An endless power struggle?

So many boys are turning to God as Christianity has always been a religion for the outcast and oppressed.

That is where you can go and be accepted, loved, and appreciated. Christians will tell the boys it's o.k. to have Y chromosomes and testosterone. They tell them that acting like boys is not patriarchal oppression.

It's a good deal for them. Oh, and Christianity offers something liberalism can't - eternal life. All the secular religion offers is a life of abuse and limited sex. Hardly worth your soul, is it?

It should be pointed out (as does this article) that young men used to identify as Democrats more than Republicans up until recently when they suddenly turned hard R. That is understandable; they saw the insanity of the Left and how the Democrats hated them. Once the Democrats came out of the closet and showed their true nature the young men were horrified. Young women less so because young women have been brainwashed for decades now.

And there is always the first story in Genesis; women tend towards being more easily seduced by evil. Men, on the other hand, are weaker and give in more easily.

At any rate this development is tough for the guys. They are increasingly isolated from female companionship as they either give in and pretend to be what they are not or go without women.

And the women will just double down on what made THEM so alone in the first place, and just grow angrier.

There's a reason why so many of the anti-ice people are women and not men. They are more likely to hate those with whom they disagree.

This is a bad situation and will only end when enough of these bitter young hags become bitter old hags and do not reproduce, thus dying off and letting demographics take their course. Problem is the young men have nobody to reproduce with either. It's a quandry.

Until men start really reasserting themselves and regain their rightful role in society things will continue to degrade. God made men men and women used to be glad of it. Now men are hiding in the shadows and women are increasingly masculinized and they LOOK more like men these days. They have grown bigger and more muscular. Men are increasingly soft and losing testosterone. That's because our society has come to promote women over men and so our herd sexual roles are reversing. That has to stop.

Men should pray on it. That, in the end, is the source of REAL power.

The ICE Man Cometh

Timothy Birdnow

Hennepin County Minnesota DA Mary Moriarty has crossed the Rubicon, charging a couple of ICE agents with crimes for doing their jobs.

The bull dyke Moriarty boasted that she had an arrest warrant and that 35-year-old Gregory Donnell Morgan Jr. is facing immanent arrest anywhere in the country.

The two officers pulled over and arrested a motorist who cut them off while they were driving on the shoulder of a highway in performance of their job duties. It seems fairly clear they believed they were being interfered with by said motorist. Officer Morgan pulled his gun after identifying as law officers.

This is WAY overstepping her legal authority and if she manages to arrest these two agents the SWHTF.

Maybe the Feds should arrest Moriarty? Fair is fair and this is an attempt to interfere with the legal duties of federal agents after all.

We've got to start getting tough with these creeps.

Powell Pulls a Stanton

Timothy Birdnow

Looks like Jerome Powell plans to stick around for two years after his chairmanship expires at the Fed.

He's doing this just to spite President Trump, of course.

Hopefully he'll be indicted and forced out of his seat there.

Powell's refusal to drop interest rates is not based on what is best for the economy but is intended to make economic growth sluggish to hurt the President's party and their political prospects in November. This is the Nicholas Biddle gambit. Biddle was chair of the Second Bank of the United States and he hated Andrew Jackson so purposely tried to crash the U.S. economy to drive Jackson from power. Jackson won the election anyway and subsequently closed the Bank of the U.S. (a great move) and we didn't have a national bank until the Federal Reserve was created in l913.

I would add the Federal Reserve crashed the economy in 1929 through 33 to create the Great Depression by first pumping up the money supply then contracting it sharply to drive the Republicans out of power and it worked. It handed an empire to Franklyn Roosevelt and his successors.

So if Powell stays he will only be there to make mischief and attempt to ruin the economy to hurt Trump and the MAGA wing of the Republicans. They must be discredited forever in the eyes of the American People or they will return some day and so Biddle Powell here is going to haunt his billion dollar headquarters to stalk the American economy and stick the knife in Trump's back.

Trump vows to fire him if he doesn't step down. THAT will cause a firestorm, which is why Powell will will stay until Trump has him bodily removed.

After the Civil War Secretary of War Edwin Stanton was fired by President Andrew Johnson but refused to leave, leading to a standoff where the army had to besiege his offices until Stanton emerged, holding a white flag. It was used to impeach Johnson by the radical Republicans. I suspect Powell is hoping for something similary.

Pelosi Hit Swalwell?

This is the kind of thing she'd do.

Hawley rightly points out Pelosi had to be aware of everything; none of what took Chitty Chitty Fang Fang out was already well-established. Hawley thinks Pelosi was holding this information for blackmail purposes, to keep Swalwell under her thumb. But it came out and so it was time to cut her loses.

As Hawley points out she did this to Biden, why not Swalwell?

Nuclear Scientists Disappearing

Timothy Birdnow

This from a post on X:

PETER DOOCY: "There are now 10 American scientists who have either gone missing or died since mid 2024. They all reportedly had access to classified nuclear or aerospace material. Is anybody investigating this to see if these things are connected?”
KAROLINE LEAVITT: "I’ve seen the report, Peter. I haven't spoken to our relevant agencies about it. I will certainly do that, and we'll get you an answer. If true, of course, that's definitely something I think this government administration would deem work worth looking into. So let me do that for you.”

Which means they know all about it and probably who is behind it. You don't just lose people with top secret classified information that way and not follow up.

While the Cat's Away

Timothy Birdnow

While we've all been busy with Iran:

And what did the vaunted Royal Navy do about it? Squat.

FTA:

Defence Secretary John Healey says three Russian submarines carried out a "covert" operation above cables and pipelines in the Atlantic, north of the UK, lasting longer than a month

In a Downing Street news conference, Healey says he deployed a warship and aircraft in response, and the Russian vessels were "monitored 24/7"

He says there is "no evidence" of any damage to UK infrastructure in the Atlantic

And in a message to Vladimir Putin, he says: "We see your activity over our cables and our pipelines, and you should know that any attempt to damage them will not be tolerated and will have serious consequences"

This is not the first time the UK has accused Russia of spying close to critical undersea cables, writes Jonathan Beale, but this appears to be a more sophisticated and clandestine Russian operation

Earlier this year, the BBC looked at the Russian threat to British cables - read the InDepth piece here. You can also see our map of crucial cables and pipelines around the UK here

Why didn't they drop depth charges? Putin could hardly protest.

This proves Europe and Britain are incapable of defending themselves and need the U.S. So why do we need them?

The Dirty Little Secret

Timothy Birdnow

What the media won't tell us:

Nick Searcy
April 7 at 9:23 AM
·
From Nima Ebadi on X:
"As an Iranian, let me tell you what President Donald J. Trump is talking about here:
In Iran, if you protest, you die. Not metaphorically. Snipers on rooftops shoot people in the head and chest. In January, the regime massacred thousands in the streets, many of them young people whose only crime was demanding a normal life.
When he says Iranians are telling the U.S. "please keep bombing” he’s describing a population so desperate to be free from a regime that murders them for protesting, that they’re willing to endure war if it means the system that has terrorized them for 47 years finally falls.
You may not understand that. Most Westerners can’t. You’ve never lived in a country where your daughter can be shot in the face for not covering her hair. Where your son disappears into Evin Prison and you get a call to come pick up the body. Where the internet goes dark so the world can’t see the killing.
That’s what "they have lived in a world that you know nothing about” means.
Before the media turns this into "Trump wants to bomb civilians,” understand: the Iranian people have been begging the world to see them for years. This is the first U.S. president to say it out loud.

USCCB Attacks J.D. Vance Over Pope

Timothy Birdnow

The U.S. Council of Catholiic Bishops is going after J.D. VAnce for his defense of President Trump over the war in Iran.

No surprise there; the USCCB has always been a leftist institution. But they attack Vance wrongly.

From the MSN article:

"For over a thousand years, the Catholic Church has taught just war theory and it is that long tradition the Holy Father carefully references in his comments on war,” read the statement issued by Bishop James Massa, who chairs the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ doctrine committee.

But that is not what the pope has done, what the Pope has done is attack the Iran war based not on Just War Theory but on his peculiar interpretation of Just War Theory, one which essentially makes any form of war impermissible.

Among the things that make a war just is that you must have been attacked and this Pope claims that didn't happen to the U.S., completely ignoring decades of attacks by Iran and her proxies starting with the seizure of our embassy in Tehran, going through attacks on U.S. servicemen and civilians in multiple places around the globe including the bombing of the Marine barracks in Lebanon (where we had gone to act as peacemakers), to Kobar Towers, to a host of other attacks and culminating in the Iran-backed terror attack on Israel (taking Americans hostage in the process) and two assassination attempts on President Trump. Leo ignored all that with his claim we were not attacked. They sound like attacks to me.

Also, you must attempt to limit civilian casualties and not target civilians. Mr. Trump has bent over backwards to avoid targeting civilians, or their infrastructure. He has largely limited himself to military targets and leadership. In fact had he not this war would be long over but he's tied his hands behind his back and is essentially attacking them by butting his shoulder against them. But he did that to avoid civilian casualties.

And while there has been some collateral damage the fact remains Trump has tried very hard to actually help the Iranian People, who he is trying to liberate as much as he is trying to protect our people.

The fact is the Iranian regime murdered 40,000 of their own citizens to hold onto power and neither the Pope nor the Council of Catholic Biships called them out for it, but they are eager to call out the President and Mr. Vance for resisting.

Just war theory is more than satisfied in this. In fact it is a holy quest, one that mercy and Christian love demands of us. Turning our backs on the Iranian People is the unchristian thing to do.

Also, in the era of nuclear weapons you don't just sit and wait for an enemy to attack with those weapons. Pre-emption is a necessary component of warfare in the modern era, and that should be obvious to even the dimmest among us.

The article continues:

Pope Leo has expressed opposition to the war in favor of peace negotiations and said in an April 10 social media post that those who are disciples of Christ are "never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs.”

What does Pope Leo think we've been doing? Trump offered them every chance to negotiate before the war started, and has offered them repeated ceasefires so negotiations may continue. What Trump is not willing to do is be played for a chump, something the Iranians are trying to do. They want a ceasefire so they can rebuild and rearm and the USCCB and Pope Leo apparently think that is our duty, to let them.

This kind of pig-ignorant pacifism is astonishing in today's world. Christianity is not a suicide pact, nor is it a doctrine for weenies.

Let us look at some Biblical passages about such matters:

Ecclesiastes 3:8
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.

Jeremiah 51:20
"You are my hammer and weapon of war: with you I break nations in pieces; with you I destroy kingdoms;

Exodus 15:3
The Lord is a man of war; the Lord is his name.

Ephesians 6:12
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Deuteronomy 20:1-4
"When you go out to war against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and an army larger than your own, you shall not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. And when you draw near to the battle, the priest shall come forward and speak to the people and shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel, today you are drawing near for battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint. Do not fear or panic or be in dread of them, for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’

Proverbs 21:31
The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.

Psalm 144:1-2
Of David. Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle; he is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield and he in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.

Romans 13:4
For he (the King) is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer.

Psalm 144:1
Of David. Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle;

Matthew 10:34
"Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.

Joel 3:9-10
Proclaim this among the nations: Consecrate for war; stir up the mighty men. Let all the men of war draw near; let them come up. Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears; let the weak say, "I am a warrior.”

Joel 3:9
Proclaim this among the nations: Consecrate for war; stir up the mighty men. Let all the men of war draw near; let them come up.

Luke 22:36 ESV / 70 helpful votes
He said to them, "But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.

Luke 12:51
Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.

Psalm 18:39
For you equipped me with strength for the battle; you made those who rise against me sink under me.

You get the idea; the Bible is chock-full of passages about warfare and the need for it. God often commanded Israel to wage wars, especially against the Amalekites, whom He ordered Israel to destroy utterly (genocide).

Warfare, though, is clearly a power granted to nations and to national governments and not to the individual. People are not to wage private wars and that is obvious. Sadly Pope Leo and the USCCB fail to understand this distinction and try to apply the passages where Jesus called for mercy and restraint to any and all situations - something not intended at all. People forgive People - nations wage wars to compel behavior. It's a world of difference.

As Rush Limbaugh used to say, this is a world governed by the aggressive use of force. You can wish it weren't so and try to not be the one to start trouble but in the end you had better be strong enough and have enough grit to finish it or you will be enslaved to the ones who don't hold to your pacifist views. (Speaking of slaves, every one of them brought to the Americas from Africa were losers in a war with other Africans or with Arab slave traders; few of them were just captured while coming home from fishing or whatnot by white slavers.) As it was once said, those who beat their swords into ploughshares will plough for those who kept their swords.

No matter how ivory-tower liberals like this Pope and the USCCB may wish it not so it is a fact and we are called to be "wise as serpents" if we are to follow Christ. That will occasionally require military action. In this case we are engaged in a very moral, righteous military action. That should be apparent even to a spiritually occluded man like Pope Leo.

But of course this isn't about Iran but about President Trump and the MAGA movement. Leo was put there to splinter the MAGA movement, to break Catholics away from it. Watch his future statements; it will often be about unity and our place in a broader world and about how we have no right to look to our own nation, even while he has condemned this President for doing precisely that.

Many Catholic theologians over the centuries have believed the False Prophet - the spiritual leader who would throw his weight behind the Beast aka Antichrist - would be a Pope. Given the sharp Left turn the Papacy has made I can truly believe that.
